About David Rouda

David is a lawyer, writer and director. He is represented by the Gersh Agency in Beverly Hills. He runs his own civil litigation law practice in San Francisco. Prior to practicing law he was an advertising copywriter at Foote Cone and Belding, San Francisco. He has played and performed piano since the age of 5 and is an avid jazz and pop pianist who gigs around San Francisco. He received a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Rhetoric from University of California at Berkeley, and a Juris Doctorate from University of San Francisco School of Law. He placed 17th in the world in the single scull rowing event at the 1999 World Rowing Championships in an effort to qualify for the 2000 Olympics. His play SPERM WARFARE premiered at the Shelton Theatre San Francisco in 2005 and had three subsequent runs, at the Shelton Theatre, at The Matrix Theatre, Hollywood, and at the Globe Playhouse, West Hollywood, running for three months in Los Angeles.  SPERM WARFARE won the “Best of the Fringe Festival Critic’s Award,” and the "Sold Out Award" at the 2005 San Francisco International Fringe Festival, and received Backstage West's Critic's Pick,  LA Weekly Critic's Pick, and SF Weekly Critic's Pick.   His fifteen-person cast comedic legal drama POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE premiered in 2006 at The Shelton Theatre, ran at the Exit Theatre San Francisco to universal critical acclaim, and had a six week run at The Matrix Theatre, Hollywood, receiving Backstage West's Critic's Pick, and LA Weekly Critic's Pick.  David is currently writing his next play and a television pilot.
